The next big thing.

Today's mobile phones outshine others almost everyday. In such a competitive market one needs to remain above and always.

Motorola is a strong name in the mobile market. Nobody would be surprised by the previous statement as they are the mobile phone inventors. Even better, they gave the world the Razr which is still actually selling in huge numbers 5 years down the line. But Motorola lost is cutting edge after the Razr.

Profit dips, Month after month of losses, quarters after quarters of market share loss, loss in the market leadership, Firing of top management, company divide and sellout talks later comes another marvel from Motorola.

Ladies and gentleman, Please welcome The newest Motorola in town....... Motorola Zine ZN5.
For this one Motorola has gone all out to make sure they get back into the market. A collaboration with Kodak was what Motorola needed to capture the market of camera phones which they lost due to measly 2mp cameras outdone by Market toys of Nokia and somewhat capable Cybershot from SonyEricsson. What I am not much impressed from is the Moto JUIX software. It has great potential but loses out badly to the SE's flash based OS.

The Zine ZN5 boasts 5mp camera with Kodak lens providing 3x optical zoom, auto focus, Macro mode, ISO adjustments, in phone photo editing capabilities and VGA video recording at 30fps.
Other great features include 3.5mm audio jack, 2.4" QVGA screen, morphing keypad, TV-out and USB port with print support. Slight confusion hovers over wi-fi capability which will just make it all the more desirable.

I am actually waiting for this phone since 1 month but no concrete information was available. Pricing on release should be about 400-500 USD which will enable it to capture good market share and become another Razr for the Motorola. Another slew of great phones from Motorola are in the pipeline which makes sense enough for us to wait before jumping for Nokia's

When one plus one makes two.

Asus has recently gone on a rampage. What started with a Lamborghini VX1 notebook PC soon become a trend at the company. Some great products came to the market from the sharp brains. The Asus G1 and G2 made it big in the gaming market and the AGEIA Physx card is still the choice of high end gamers.

Now imagine what will happen when A great company just gets greater? Even better products. Asus recently announced their new GSM pocket PC with windows 6.1 last week. For starters, how does GPS sirfstar III, Micro SD HC card slot, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, wi-fi b/g, USB 2.0, dual camera, TI OMAP 2431 processor, Quad-band, Tri-band HSDPA and a 2.8 inch Display sound? wheeeew!!!! It sure is too much for a small device but Asus has made it possible.

Now for some extras. The phone has been made in partnership with LAMBORGHINI.......... While HTC pampered you with Touchflo, Neonode smothered you with Neno interface, IPhone brought in their Apple UI, Asus has also gone the extra mile along with Lamborghini to Make the phone much more special. A Windows mobile 6.1 has been enhanced with dual 3d UI for work and pleasure. The UI has been enhanced with graphic effects of Lamborghini cars such as tachometers, paddle shifters, engine sounds etc. It is more like a fusion of themes, gadgets and add-on's making for a breathtaking experience. Another great probable on this phone is the liberal use of carbon fibre.

Hope it makes debut soon on your shores.

Who's the sexiest????

The sexiest women lists have been a rage lately. FHM, Forbes, MAXIM, BBC and Man's World are just some of the known media moguls running the ranking game. So what's new? The inclusion of Katrina Kaif. Yes, Katrina Kaif has been voted as the sexiest woman alive by FHM.That's just for starters. How does it sound that katrina Kaif beat Angelina Jolie and Scarlett Johansson to be ranked the best.

But another recent survey again by FHM has proclaimed Megan Fox (Yes, the transformers chick) to be the sexiest Woman alive.

So who gets the vote?????

No petrol Supercar

There will be another 5Rs hike in Petrol in India. Don't fret on it. I am talking about the same price hike you read in the papers today. The news made me stop purchasing the Suzuki SX4/ Chevrolet Aveo I was potentially eyeing on. The second logical choice was a diesel. I had a look at Maruti swift/fiat Palio multi jet options along with the likes of Hyundai Getz, Renault Logan and Ford Fiesta/Fusion. The sound from the Common rail were a big put off. So what is the alternative?

Reva is there but it really isn't an alternative. It's.......... just there. So I began my Google quest on which car to potentially wait for until I ran into this awesome beauty. The Tesla electric car. Oh'no! you would say. Not Another electric car!!!!! Wait till I tell ye that it does 0-60 miles in 3.9 (equivalent to 96kms) seconds with a 13000 rpm red line to awaken even the dead at heart. It economical too with the company claiming 220 miles( equivalent to 325kms) per charge. The company also goes on to claim a 2cents per mile (a meager 80 paise)
Ohhh wait! don't run with that cheque book just yet. It still on a limited run in the United States and will take another 3-4 years till it makes to India. Until then run your cars on petrol and let loose that gas pedal to enjoy the last litre of the precious gasoline.

Philips does a phoenix

Not everyday and every time does a company accomplish such a feat. Talk Philips and you come to know that its been on a roll lately. The very mention of a company like Philips doesn't really bring excitement which is similar to Apple IPhone or a Motorola ROKR E8 but nonetheless Philips has been really opening its trump cards.

The first one is a mobile phone that runs on a AAA batteries when the user is out of juice or in a remote place. :D Now why didn't Sonyericsson or Motorola ever think of that (Nokia hasn't done anything since Symbian... yawnnnnn!!!!) Retained here are various features that form the strength of xenium range from Philips. The 9@9J has a fantastic battery life that lasts for a month on standby and all the necessities including mp3 player, FM radio, Stereo bluetooth support and expandable memory. A feat considering the weight at 91grams. Yes there are downsides like the lackluster screen and a lowly 1.3mp camera but I am ready to let go of such things for that looooooooooooooooooong standby.

Their second outing known as the x-connect is what can be considered the boldest move that has the potential to oust IPhone with proper product handling. How does this sound?

624MHz processor
3" touch screen display
Windows Mobile 6.1
3G UMTS/HSDPA
GPS navigation
micro SD memory card slot
Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity
AA/AAA battery backup (yes again :D)

Again while battery life and build quality are retained, wi-fi will be missed by many. Also the camera is rumoured to be not on par.

The third is the x800 that will kick IPhone posterior at a lower price range. The X800 is equipped with a 2.9-inch TFT touch screen with 240 x 400 pixel resolution and 262k colors. It supports external memory via micro SD cards and comes with a 2 mega pixel auto-focus camera. Other features include Bluetooth and handwriting recognition.

Pricing and availability are still unknown but the potential news sure prove Philips have done a triple strike.

Nissan grows a humoungous 216%

When we appreciate a car's engine, one can easily guess we are talking about Jap cars. It is even more clear when we talk about reliability. The Big Jap corporations have not left a single stone unturned when it comes to churning out cars worldwide. Toyota and Honda have had a smooth and upwardly ride since many years now. But the third largest Japanese maker Nissan has only started making waves since its collaboration with Renault. The car maker has made a turnaround and how?

India has recently started emerging as an important automobile market. Toyota has been taking it a tad too seriously with a varied product portfolio including the likes of corolla and Camry. Honda also has not left a stone unturned and given Indians some fantastic and futuristic cars like the civic and accord. How can Nissan be behind. 3 years and 2 models later they are having some decent numbers in the market. “We sold 160 units in the FY05, 250 units in 2006 and 506 units in FY07,” said Neeraj Garg, director, marketing and sales, Nissan Motor India Private Limited. Of the 506 units, 330 were of the Teana luxury sedan model and the rest were of the SUV model X-Trail.

The company forayed into the Indian market with its first product - the Nissan X-Trail - in in 2004 and with the Teana in 2007. “We are looking at having a presence across all segments,” said Simon Sproule, corporate vice-president, global communications, CSR division, Nissan Motor Co. The company has lined up the launch of eight models under different segments in India by 2012.

Ford up there again, better than the best

It was only sometime ago when Ford had posted a humongous loss amounting to billions of dollars. The Blue oval was a sign of taxi cabs and low resale. I am not even counting low Fuel Efficiency and maintenance issues. Recalls were always above 100,000.

Things turned to worse when Toyota overtook ford for the no.2 position in such important market as North America. But as the saying goes 'better late than never.' Ford is back in the game and how???? The next quarter itself after posting a huge loss amounting to about 15billion dollars, Ford shook management, fired lazy designers, cleaned up manufacturing houses and the result was evident when Ford posted a 750 million dollars operating profit, a first in almost a decade.

Good news later followed when Ford beat all Toyota models in quality and interior design ratings. Some from as reputed companies as J.D. Power.

Now the good news continue to roll as Ford keep cutting fleet sales and concentrate on what the real buyer needs. Ford has recently showed Honda who the boss is.

The quality of Ford, Lincoln and Mercury brand vehicles soared to the top of the charts equaling that of Toyota and Honda, according to the first quarter 2008 U.S. Global Quality Research System (GQRS) study conducted by RDA Group of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.

The company earned best-in-class honors in two important engineering functions: interiors, which includes such areas as trim, seats and instrument panel appearance; and electrical, which includes entertainment systems. Ford tied for best-in-class in two other functions, paint and vehicle engineering, which includes such areas as ride and handling and cabin quietness.
Additionally, Ford’s domestic brands pushed customer satisfaction up one point to 77 percent.

A total of 15 Ford, Lincoln, Mercury vehicles are ranked in the top three of their respective segments for either TGW performance, customer satisfaction or both.
The following models are segment leaders:
• Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 – TGW for sports car
• Ford Five Hundred – customer satisfaction for large car
• Ford Sport Trac – customer satisfaction for medium traditional utility
• Mercury Milan – TGW for mid size car
• Lincoln Navigator – TGW and customer satisfaction for large premium utility
The new 2008 Ford Taurus (called Five Hundred in the Middle East) and Mercury Sable (called Mercury Montego in the Middle East) both recorded quality levels that equate to less than one problem per vehicle, as did the Volvo S80 (947). The Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ were close, with 1,030 TGW and 1065 TGW, respectively.
The Five Hundred also led a string of impressive new vehicles launched in 2007. Five Hundred showed a 33 percent quality improvement compared with the product it replaced. The new Ford Escape improved 16 percent over the out-going model.
In fact, 36 of 40 Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Volvo and Mazda nameplates improved this year versus 2007.
The 2008 first quarter U.S. GQRS study, which RDA Group conducts for Ford, asks customers of all major makes and models to comment on troubles and rate their overall satisfaction with their three-month-old vehicles. The survey includes vehicles registered from September 2007 through November 2007.

One may ask. What about India? Well Mr. Mathew (His surname ends with Mathew but he is to Ford India what Bill Ford is to Ford motors. :)) himself has promised the best service possible for ford cars. And with overdrive churning record Fuel efficiency numbers in the chaotic traffic conditions with the Ford Fiesta, Honda needs to make-up the city fast.

Honda maybe known for its engines, but Ford is known for its legendary status and that includes not just engines but the cars as a whole.

Good going ford.

Is it the end of the Iphone?

Since the dawn of computing Windows operating systems have ruled the roost. But various other operating systems have been on the horizons since. While most of the populace doesn't know the difference between a pc and a computer or nokia and mobile phones, there have been better alternatives in the market. The window UI named as Microsoft was better pioneered by Apple's Mac OS and the open source better known as linux has held its own.

With the Apple's mac based IPhone conquering the smartphone market long a windows forte and followed by the undesirable and same as always nokia's symbian, freedom followers started working on Linux to get something priced down to earth with most needed features.

Enter the Openmoko FreeRunner. Descended from Neo1973, this yet to release phone stores wonders within the small plastic box. A monstereous 500MHz processors, wireless b/g, motion sensors, hardware accelerated 2d/3d graphics rendering, generous 2.8" VGA screen, creative GNOME Desktop environment, hip LED lights all around and the ability to hack the open source makes this phone the most desirable gadget in the gsm industry for the geeks.

A great alternative with added extras if the ROKR E8's basic rich feature set is not enough for you.

The return of the Titan

Motorola is returning among the lookalikes of the mobile phone market again. But the Motorola we see this time around is a new player. Long evolved since stable handsets and innovative feature set ala Siemens (Siemens and Motorola were to join hands once to form a single company.) has brought Motorola to where it is today based on its strengths.

The phone which has lately caught my attention doesn't have a GPS. Nope! Neither does it have a wi-fi. It Isn't a touchscreen either. Surprised? That's the name of the game Motorola plays with most phones, their phones are mobile phones first. The marvel I am talking about is Motorola ROKR E8.
The E8 boasts of some excellent features not found in most common handsets. The phone's Keyboard changes with each application to give different modes which Motorola calls Modeshift. Some of the modes I am aware of are
1. Phone mode
2. Music mode
3. Camera mode.

Top that up with a 100 grams lightweight phone with a quad-band signal to cover the world. And then some salt and pepper. 2gb of onboard memory, A universal 3.5mm jack for using our Sennheiser, Grado, AKG, Bose or Beyerdynamic headphones just make this phone a must have.

For those who live by nokia, the author wont care at all about writing about a Maruti 800 on this blog. There are some limitations. But for those who swear by good things, the ROKR E8 is coming soon. :) Stay tuned for a detailed review.

Another Fast and the furious Sequel

Just when the adrenaline from The fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift is about to disappear, news of the new Sequel have surfaced. The Studios have fortunately retained the cast from the first movies. Yes! The old cast makes a comeback. It would have become obvious from the last scene in the Tokyo Drift where Vin Diesel gives us a peek as Han's friend.

Paul walker and Vin Diesel are joined in this sequel by Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster (I would have loved to see Eva Mendes join the gang too. ;)).

Not retained will be the script. The penning is rumoured, not to be a continuation of the first movie. Also not retained would be the snazzy custom wheels which is actually good news.

No screeners are out yet but keep a watch. It maybe out soon.

Nissan GTR too common for you? how about Nismo Z?

Fresh off the finished development of the GTR, Nissan's racing division, Nismo, is at it again -- this time with an ultra expensive, racing-only Z built to Japanese Super Taikyu Series standards. The engineers at Nismo can't seem to get enough of the track and went all-out on this latest Z variation named the Fairlady Z 380RS Competition Model.

Overtly distinguishing this track-dedicated Z is a modified bodykit that includes a carbon fiber hood and doors, front canards and handcrafted rear carbon diffuser. The massive Brembo brakes measure 15-inches and hide behind ultra lightweight, black, forged monoblock wheels and add to the sinister exterior look, as does the fully adjustable racing coilover suspension. Inside the cabin are only the bare essentials needed for attacking the track. After stripping any unnecessary materials and creature comforts, Nismo engineers installed a carbon Recaro racing seat, complete roll cage with fire extinguisher, digital gauges, lightweight steering wheel, and the always essential engine cut-off switch. Modification to the all ready stout V-6 VQ35HR series engine includes an increased displacement to 3.8-liters, giving the high revving engine upwards of 400 horsepower at 7,200 rpm. Engine management is controlled by a Motec ECM, while a six-speed close-ratio transmission and Nismo LSD help to keep the Rays Engineering wheels turning as intended. As expected, this racing spec Fairlady Z will only be available in its home market of Japan. Pretending to be a Super Taikyu racer doesn't come cheap though--- Nismo's built-to-order 380RS Competition Model starts at around $284,000.Source: Nismo Japan

MV and wallypower roar in the new Brutale

Italy has always mesmerised me. The pasta, pizza, girls, Opera, Cars, motorcycles, Clothes........ and I can go on for a few more minutes. They do everything with style and panache. It's no wonder then for people to be excited when an announcement is made by the Lamborghini of bikes- MV Agusta. MV who??? would be a common expression of many who are familiar with Yamaha, Honda, kawasaki and Suzuki rockets. But then you dont even know anything about the Lamborghini reventon. Well that just makes this article all the more interesting.

Italian Motorcycle manufacturer MV Agusta is to add two new limited addition versions of its new Brutale 910 R naked bikes in conjunction with two of Southern Europe’s most stylish design companies. The already announced Hydrogen Brutale 910 R, in conjunction with clothing manufacturer Hydrogen, will be joined by a Wally Brutale 910 R, both with stunning visuals and a LOT of mid range. Wally is the Monaco-based designer of outrageous luxury boats.

Monaco-based Wally Yachts has become a maritime design and manufacture icon since it was founded in 1994 by wealthy Italian yachtsman Luca Bassani. The company achieved international prominence with its stylish, sleek, minimalist designs within the industry very quickly, but winning the Millennium Yacht Design Award really put the company on the map. The award was won by the company’s distinctive 118 WallyPower and the company now produces the most visually arresting high end sail and motor yachts, from the Nano 11-meter day sailor/racer through to boats such as the gorgeous Wally 50M, which is 50 meters in length.
Only 100 of each model will be produced worldwide, offering a degree of exclusivity and retained value to the machinery.

two joys in one

Once in a while comes a car that hits bullseye on each and every step. Here's one that almost does everything right, well almost.

At a glance...

Good driving dynamics
Well equipped
Good price
Lots of tyre noise
Not particularly roomy

There’s plenty of good news about the Lancer. All models come with electronic stability control and lots of airbags – the tested VRX having no les than seven airbags (the 7this a driver’s knee bag). Pricing is also very sharp, with superb extras such as a sunroof and Rockford Fosgate sound system.

The platform on which the Lancer is built is also new, being shared with the Outlander (though on the road you’d never guess). The engine – yet another new component – is a variable valve timed 2 litre, developing 113kW (at 6000 rpm) and 198Nm at a high 4250 rpm. However, the high revs at which maximum torque is developed (implying a weak low rpm power curve) is very well masked by the Continuously Variable Transmission fitted to the test car.

This trans, as its name suggests, constantly varies in ratio – there are not distinct gear steps. Left in Drive, the revs slur their way upwards and downwards as the situation demands. Unlike some CVT cars, there are very few situations where you find the engine screaming away at the redline as speed only slowly increases. Instead, you might not even notice (until you’re looking for it) how the tacho needle tends to hover at certain revs as the speed changes, rather than rising and falling conventionally. The main benefit of the CVT is that there’s a ratio for all occasions, and at 100 km/h the engine is turning at a very leisurely 2000 rpm. In turn this reduces engine noise and improves fuel economy.

However, if after that spiel you still want to change gears, you can. Up/down paddles (incidentally, made from magnesium) extend from the steering column and you can manually select from six ratios, using either the paddles or the gearshift. Apart from a slight driveline jerk accompanying on/off throttle movements, we found the gearbox a delight - whether used manually or left to do its own thing.

Fuel consumption is listed at 8.5 litres/100 (noticeably more than the lighter, lower trim manual trans models) and in test driving we achieved an average of about 9 litres/100km. However – and perhaps because of the CVT – the fuel economy performance is an interesting one. When drive gently in either city or rural road conditions, economy disproportionately improves – it’s easy to get Eights in the city and very low Sevens in the country. But drive even a little harder and these jump to Tens and Nines, respectively.

The VRX comes with larger brakes front and rear, stiffer suspension and revised anti-roll bars. Like all Lancers for a long time, the rear suspension is a ‘proper’ independent system. The ride is clearly sporty (you wouldn’t confuse the VRX for a cushy Mon and Pop model) but the car handles with precision and poise. Step over the adhesion limits and the stability control is well calibrated and effective. Grip levels from the 215/45 Yokohamas worn on 18 inch rims is high. However - and it’s a noticeable downer - tyre noise is excessive.

The A-pillars are very thick – this is one car where the driver constantly needs to move their heads to cover blind-spots – and the large spoiler blocks rear vision. However, on the plus side most people we talked to liked the styling of the VRX body kit.

Step inside and the Lancer is not quite the medium-outside, big-inside car we were expecting.
For two adults and two under 14 year olds it’s fine, but if the rear passengers are lanky teenagers or full size adults, the front seats will need to be positioned forwards – biting well into front legroom. The rear seating positions are also a trifle knees-up (that sharing of the platform with the Outlander, perhaps?) and getting in and out the back can be a tight squeeze – the high sill panels and tight seat/door clearance making it easy to get your feet tangled. Finally, rear head room can be tight.

The boot, despite initially looking large, cannot swallow two full-sized suitcases and is long and shallow with a limited opening. The boot carpet is also scrappy and easily slides around. Digging further, you’ll find a space-saver steel spare wheel and, under that (on the other side of the boot floor) a huge muffler that appears positioned just to steal boot space! The rear seat 60/40 split folds but the floor remains stepped and the access buttons for the seat releases are awkwardly placed. There are good sized door pockets front and rear but no vents are provided for rear passengers.

Build quality (or is it design quality?) of the test car was variable. The doors operated with metallic clangs that had to be heard to be believed and the boot was hard to shut. Some panel margins were also variable, although the paint was good.

The equipment level is very good for the money, with effective auto wipers and auto headlights, Bluetooth and auto key operation (you can leave the ‘key’ in your pocket most of the time). The optional Rockford Fosgate sound system – complete with boot-mounted subwoofer – pumps hard but can be adjusted for any musical taste.

We can certainly see why the Lancer is proving to be a sales success – good driving dynamics, equipment and fuel consumption. But if you’re a potential buyer, make sure you also assess the way the doors shut, the limited rear utility (passengers and boot space) and the tyre noise

What this means to you: A wonderful allp-round car that is also instrumental in bringing Mitsubishi back not only on the world stage but in the black books and the hearts of enthusiasts. The car is not as well finished as the civic or the corolla but the price is lucrative enough for the consumer to overlook. The biggest sellouts are the driving dynamics and the more than excellent Rockford Fosgate sound system.

Mazda2 named world car of the year

Mazda’s latest entry-level car, the Mazda 2, has been named the winner of the 2008 Car of the Year award. The award was announced Thursday at the New York International Auto Show.
It isn't sold in the U.S. but is found in Japan, Europe and other markets. A four-door version goes on sale in China this spring. Ford Motor Co., which owns a third of Mazda, is basing its new Fiesta subcompact on the Mazda2 platform. The Fiesta goes on sale in the U.S. in 2010.
Forty-seven jurors from 24 countries determine the winner based on styling, quality, safety and other factors.

The Ford Mondeo and the Mercedes C-Class were the other nominees.

What this means to you: Ford is improving vastly since the recent debacle. But seems like its other partners are doing better. Time to take mazda seriously. Toyota, Honda are you listening?

A wonderful website on mazda2 is now available for customer viewing. http://www.mazda2.com/

Soundstream enters multimedia

Soundstream, has recently unveiled some great looking Mp4 players in the US market. Soundstream if the young I.C.E. aficionados don't remember is the company that used to make great sounding and reliable amplifiers in the days of blaring mustangs and challengers. After being acquired by another company they have not been in the news lately. Now with the car entertainment jelling with PC components these new gadgets are a great addition to their product lineup. They did remind me of the Multimedia players introduced by Alienware sometime ago. The premium model comes in two memory sizes (2gb/4gb) and has a 2.8 inches touchscreen setup. It supports MP3, WMA, ASF, WAV, FLAC, OGG, & APE audio playback and MP4, DIVX, XVIDV, AVI, & MTV video playback . Additional features include fm radio, picture viewer and multi language display (possible for the European markets). The lower end Multimedia player has a smaller 2.4 inches screen but with a 2mp Cmos camera. Both the models come with earbuds and a usb cable (no charger means charging through usb.)

Shot Quotient:
1. Goes well along with your snazzy car stereo unit Seems to be a good standalone portable music 2. Touchscreen functionality for a smaller capacity ipod touch with bigger screen.
3.
Also plays videos on that 2.8 inch screen, Multi language display Plays multiple audio codecs including ogg and flac.

Rot quotient:
1. 4gb of max memory is still minuscule.
2. Most car stereo's with usb only connect to ipod. Don't bother investing into this one yet
3. Distribution network is not strong and availability will be limited.
4. No games. ipod and zune both have games and good ones in huge quantity too.
5. The blue icons below the screen makes it look cheap Chinese.

P.S. : Soundstream products are now available in India through CRFmall.

Tata Motors borrows $3 b to buy Jaguar, Land Rover

Tata Motors has secured a $3 billion loan from Citigroup and J.P. Morgan Chase to finance its intended purchase of the British marques Jaguar and Land Rover from their American owner Ford Motors, according to media reports Tuesday.

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) quoted a person familiar with the deal as saying Tata had secured a one-year bridging loan from the two banks.
Tata Motors are thought to have made an offer of around $2 billion to purchase the two luxury brands, and the deal is now expected to go through sometime next week, the paper said.
Other reports said money from the loan would also be used to finance the production of the recently launched Tata Nano, the world's cheapest car.

The WSJ said the deal could be signed as soon as next Monday.
But because Ford employees are off work Monday, a formal announcement could be made Tuesday or later in the week, the paper quoted "people familiar with the situation" as saying.
However, earlier reports in The Times newspaper had said the deal would be signed sometime around Easter, which falls on March 23 this year.
Ford said in a recent government filing that it expects the sale to be finalised with regulators sometime during the second quarter.
A Ford spokesman said the company is "pleased with the significant progress" in the negotiations and that the two sides remain "on track" to reach a deal early this year. "There are no major roadblocks," the spokesman added.
